Wireless Fidelity, more commonly known as WI-FI, provides laptop users with wireless connection to the Internet at designated locations called "hot spots." The WI-FI goal in Coastal Fairfield County is to promote the proliferation of hot spots in numerous user-friendly public spaces, thereby establishing a sense of community and positioning public and private sector locations as cutting edge Internet access sites.
The One Coast, One Future WI-FI initiative has so far created a number of these corridor hotspots in Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport so individuals can log on to this service using their library card to gain access. The corridor includes a combination of public libraries, public parks and train stations.
